Galatians 6:2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
This weekend was another phenomenal experience. In many ways I feel like the weekend started on Wednesday for me. We had our first Wednesday night potluck prior to service. It was great to see us fellowshipping over some great food. Our motto at DUCC is, “There is no meeting, if there is no eating.” In addition to the physical food from the potluck meal we also had a great spiritual meal through the preached word. Pastor Brett Fuller of Grace Covenant Chantilly was with us, and it thoroughly blessed me personally and our church. The word was timely, and the encouragement was strengthening. Thanks Pastor Brett for walking in such an apostolic mantle.
This past Sunday we had the “College Takeover” at DUCC. It was cool to see the college students take over service. We had a packed house! Shout out to Marcus and Tempest, our Campus Pastoral Team. As expected we had a great time in the Lord. There was some hip-hop intermingled in worship, and JMU’s Contemporary Gospel Singers blessed us as well. We had some special guests in the building. Some good friends of mine, Derrick Burroughs & Timotheus Pope helped us out as well. Timotheus Pope brought the word! It was tight, but right! He covered the topic: Steps to Destiny out of 1 Corinthians 10:1-14. He covered how we should:
1) Exercise Wisdom: Learn from the Past
2) Exercise Patience: Live in the Present
3) Exercise Vision: Listen for the Future
Special Guests & Friends: Derrick & Timotheus
More than anything having guys like Timotheus and Derrick in my life have been some of the most critical relationships I have had. Both of those guys are a God-sent to me and my family. They both greatly encouraged me, and have walked with me through difficult times.
Derrick is one of the co-founders of DUU, formerly known as DuRaG. What many people don’t know: In January 2005 while I was fasting, it was Derrick who prayed the famous Thursday night 9:00pm prayer that helped put the ministry in motion. He is a man of faith, and zeal. He is a dynamic worship leader and man of God! I love that guy and his family.
Timotheus played an instrumental part in the church plant for me. He helped me hone in and discern the vision that the Lord was giving me for DUCC. Timotheus walks in Character, Authenticity, Substance, and Humility. Timotheus has encouraged me greatly, and this weekend was a special time of fellowship as we reflected on what the Lord has done, and envisioned what was to come in Pennsylvania and Harrisonburg. More than the public ministry, it has been a huge blessing to see his ministry operate within his home. Thank you Timotheus & Derrick for being great friends, and men of God.
There is so much more to write, but so little space! Stay tuned for next week’s Monday Moments!
