Good day family and friends!!!
While there were many events and activities this past week, I feel the need to share some thing with you all. On Saturday at our leadership meeting, the focal scripture was Colossians 1:9-14 where Paul prays that the people will have knowledge of God’s will, wisdom, and spiritual understanding. There is something powerful about have a sense of God’s will for our lives, and walking in the purpose in which God created us for. When we have a sense of God’s will it gives a Heavenly focus and a divine comfort as we journey through life, ministry, and trials and tribulations. I am grateful for the work of the Cross and the power of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ!
The past week has been jam packed, but it has been blessed. Here are a few updates:
Every Nation Cluster Meeting:
Every Nation, the network of churches we are affiliated with, has 3 different regions throughout North America, and about twice a year pastors from each region gather together for a cluster meeting which includes a time of fellowship, worship, word, and competition. Pastor AJ and I gathered with pastors from Toronto, Chicago, Boston, Virginia, and few other places on Wednesday and Thursday. We had a great and refreshing time. As we, Pastor AJ & I, continue to get acquainted with Every Nation, we are reminded time and time again of what a blessing it is to have spiritual family such as this. Quick note on the competition: We had the 5th annual bowling tournament, and family I had the worst day of bowling ever! And the pastors definitely made sure I was aware of that! Looking forward to what the Lord is going to do with this connection with Every Nation.
I had the opportunity to preach in Madison Va at New Fellowship Christian Center for their youth revival Friday & Saturday Night. The theme was “youth on fire” and we had an awesome time in the Lord. Thank you to the DUCC fam that traveled with me on those two nights. Pastor Monroe is celebrating his 27th year of pastoring! Wow… it is hard to think what things will look like 25 years from now for myself and for DUCC, but I definitely can say it was a blessing to see Pastor Monroe’s joy and humility after many many years of laboring for the kingdom!
Redskins vs Bears:
I was not at DUCC this past Sunday, I had the opportunity to fellowship with Pastor Bret Fuller at Grace Covenant in Chantilly Va, and go to the Redskins vs Bears game. My Chicago “Football” Bears lost, and I have been heckled from the moment the game started until I came back to Harrisonburg! I did have the opportunity to meet some of the Redskins players though. Pastor Bret is the Chaplin for the Redskins, and it gave me great joy to see professional athletes that love Jesus, and are honoring Him with their lives. Special thanks to Pastor Bret for the exposure!
Best Friend & Preacher:
Because I wasn’t at DUCC, someone had to preach, right? Well my best friend Troy Burnett ministered the word for his very first time at DUCC. He continued in our series C.A.S.H. and he ministered on the importance of having Substance which is the word of God in our lives. Troy and I have a long history together, but I can say that he has modeled CASH (Character.Authenticity.Substance.Humilty) for quite a few years. He and I learned what it meant to be Men of God together. He and I have seen each other through deaths in the family, bad break-ups, lost jobs, and now happy marriages and fruitful ministries! I love you Troy and appreciate your life as a man of GOD!
Hope you all have an awesome week!
~ Pastor Chris
