Proverbs 3:34 “He has no use for conceited people, but shows favor to those who are humble.”
Celebration and Humility
This weekend was full of celebration with Weddings, Birthdays, Church Services, New Members Orientation, and Marriage Counseling… Great but Busy!
Congrats to Lindell and Aishah Hunter on their marriage. It was a great time celebrating holy matrimony…seeing two a man and a woman united together as one under Christ is one of the greatest celebrations outside of salvation. We also had a great time dancing and all at the reception. DUCC knows how to party.
Congrats New Life Ministries…
New Life Ministries in Bridgewater celebrated 14 years of ministry this weekend. Congrats to my friend Pastor Henry & Sarah Eggleston. It was about 12 years ago I was attending that church and dedicated my life to the Lord. That church has changed and launched many ppl into ministry over the years.
Saturday we had our first iRefuse Men’s Breakfast. Special thanks to Carl Stauffer for bringing a very powerful and life changing word. I had a great opportunity to shed tears and recognize ways the Lord is still shaping me to be the man He has destined me to be. We had an awesome time in Lord, and if you missed it Mark your calendars for November 16th.
Steps to Humility…
We closed out our C.A.S.H. series this week with Humility. This may have been one of the hardest messages I have preached in a while, but I do believe that the Lord delivered many people from years of pride cloaked in false humility. A message on humility and pride is always hard because I have to spend time in confession and seeing the many ways I have to humble myself before I can even open my mouth. However I can truly say that Christ has done a work in my heart, and it is safe to say that I have NO ROOM to be puffed up nor arrogant about the things the Lord has done in my life. Each day I am reminded of a few scriptures:
1Cor. 15:10 “But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.”
1Cor. 9:27 “But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.”
Acts 20:24 “However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me–the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.”
What’s most exciting about living a humbled life is 2 things: 1) we look more like Jesus and 2) The benefits of humility. The favor that comes with humility exceeds my or anyone’s greatest efforts and desires to take credit for anything the Lord has done or is doing. Therefore DUCC, my family, and my entire life is what it is because of the GRACE OF GOD, not myself.
Have a blessed week and look forward to the ways Christ is calling you to look more like Him!
