Football, Fellowship, Announcement, and Gratitude!
On Saturday I had a chance to go to a Bridgewater football game. It is always good to return to my Alma Mater. I was only able to stay for 1st half, and I had to leave to take one of the players to the hospital and we are praying for a speedy recovery for him. However when I left the game, Bridgewater was in control, and I thought headed to a sure victory. Thanks to the best news broadcast in the world, facebook, I later found that we lost the game. This has not been the best season for the Bridgewater Eagles… but I am still a huge fan! While I am on the subject of football, my Chicago Football Bears also turned in a lost against the Detroit Lions. Stressful weekend as a fan. However I was not a complete loser this weekend. J I had a great opportunity to fellowship with some wonderful couples this weekend. Some of it was hanging out, and others were pre-martial counseling. It gives me GREAT joy to see the love of Christ working in people’s lives.
!!!!!Announcement!!!!! The Bridge is on the way…
There is a new church on the way and I am excited to share good news of my brother Edwin and his wife Arial Jones will be planting a church in Hampton Virginia named “The Bridge Church” in the fall of 2014. Edwin and I have shared in ministry for a long time now through DuRaG and Focus ministries, and God has definitely placed he & Arial in Cherelle’s and I life to spur one another on to good works. So please pray for them as they answer the wonderful call of church planting. I am believing that Hampton, Va and the surrounding area will be changed and many people will be reconciled to Christ! Congrats Ed & Arial.
Thank You for hearing me… (Click Here for the notes)
This past Sunday we had a very powerful service looking at the story of Blind Bartimeaus in Mark 10:46-52. Bartimeaus seized an opportunity to cry out to Jesus. We learned from Bartimeaus that our relationship with Christ is not about perfect behavior but perfect and passionate pursuit marked by desperation. When I think about the many times that Jesus has heard my cry and healed, delivered, provided, or met my needs I am filled with Gratitude! I am sure that all of us can think back to a time or you may be in a season where you are like Blind Bartimeaus stuck, begging, and hoping for a breakthrough. I want to encourage you this week from Psalm 34:17-19 “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.”
Family I am thankful that Jesus heard my cry (cries)! And I am confident that He will hear yours too. What are you in need of today? This week? This year? Seize your opportunity to cry out to Jesus full of faith that He is able to meet your need!
I would like to share this quote with you in closing:
“When we learn to read the story of Jesus and see it as the story of the love of God, doing for us what we could not do for ourselves- that insight produces, again and again, a sense of astonished gratitude which is very near the heart of authentic Christian experience.” ~N.T.Wright
I am forever grateful for the cross of Jesus Christ!
Have a great week family and friends!
