Surrounded by a cloud of witnesses….
For this week’s Monday Moments, I want to give special attention to some of the people that play and have played vital roles in my life and ministry, and this weekend I had an opportunity to spend quality time with some of those people.
We miss Chloe
This past weekend as we were on our pastoral retreat, it was Cherelle’s and I first time away from our beautiful 10month old daughter Chloe overnight. In February 2013, Cherelle and I were blessed with this beautiful baby, and it has been an amazing and enjoyable journey raising her. Special thank you to Chloe’s auntie Chaka & uncle Troy for keeping her.
This past weekend DUCC’s pastoral team had a chance to recharge and retreat. Over the past weekend we intentionally spent time with the Lord, and with one another. What I enjoy most about these times is the opportunity to hear from the Lord, encourage one another, and gain vision and insight for our personal lives as well as ministry. We believe the health of the church starts with this team, therefore we try to live what we preach. The Mosleys, Andersons, and Mcdonalds have truly been a blessing to our church but even more in our lives. I couldn’t think of a better team of pastors to be in the trenches with. I want to publically thank you all for trusting, supporting, and encouraging me as pastor of DUCC. I am a firm believer a person is only as good as the company that he keeps. I am in good company!
Pillars of Faith:
In addition to being on the retreat with the pastoral team, we had the opportunity to be ministered to by Anthony & Gwen Hill. They truly imparted wisdom and love. We are grateful to have a couple like this in our lives and church. It is amazing the way the Lord uses people to help us reach the next level in our faith.
On Sunday morning, Carl and Carolyn Stauffer brought forth a powerful word from 1Kings 17-19 focusing on how Elijah had to depend on the Lord to be recharged. Carl & Carolyn Stauffer are another gift to my life and our church. They were the first married couple to pray over Cherelle & I when we first started dating. In addition to that they have set a wonderful example of godliness that has expanded our hearts and minds. We appreciate your ministry!
In closing, this week I want to encourage you all from Hebrews 12:1-2 where it says: “1Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
I pray that you also have people in your life that help recharge you for life’s journey, and reminds you that Christ is king!
