What a mighty God we serve!!!!!!! Over the past few months, my family & I have been hit with some interesting situations ranging from growing pains at church, to living in limbo b/t prayers submitted & prayers answered. When talking to a mentor of mine, I said if I could sum up the first few months of 2014 in one word it would be: ENDURANCE. I have experienced God’s grace, and word keeping me lifted, encouraged, and at peace even in the midst of storms. God’s word has been faithful, Cherelle & I have been stronger, and we have been infused with joy that empowers us to be more than conquerors!
This weekend was a God-sent for us. We had the chance to travel to Jacksonville Florida for Campus Harvest. While it was a ministry event getting away (just the two of us) was phenomenal. I love traveling with my wife. Special thanks to Chaka & Troy Burnett for being great God-parents and friends. They took care of Chloe while we were out of town. Don’t know where Cherelle & I would be without them. Love you all!
While in Jacksonville, we thoroughly enjoyed catching up with friends (Aisha Alami & Scottie McGhee) and meeting many new people. There are few things I want to highlight from this weekend:
Jacksonville- Campus Harvest
Campus harvest is conference geared to reach & empower college students with the Gospel. There were about 800 college students from around Florida that was in attendance. I was asked to be the opening speaker for this conference Friday night by Pastor Russ Austin. The request was that I share my testimony of salvation and campus ministry. Speaking from 2 Corinthians 5:14-21, I highlighted the importance of Recognizing, Receiving, and Reproducing the love of Christ. Over 100 students received Christ as their Savior, and quite a few more expressed a desire to renew or strengthen their relationship with the Lord. I am confident that lives impacted by the gospel make an impact for the gospel! Special thanks to Uncle Russ & South Point Community Church for giving me the opportunity to share the gospel in Jacksonville.
Next Level- Seed, Planted, Rooted, Reproducing
As DUCC embraces its 3rd year the Lord has been giving us strategic steps to go to the next level! As we prepare to Take the City, we are ultimately trying to move to high velocity stage of reproducing disciples as a church. We are focusing on a unique blend of quality and quantity growth. There are some strategic words that the Lord has been speaking through the book of Philippians that I believe are for us. This week’s Next Level Lessons are as follow, and I hope that they can encourage you too:
Gratitude & Confidence: Philippians 1:3-6 (Gratitude minimizes struggle & increases faith)
New Mindset: Philippians 2:5-16 (Christ’s life determines how I live)
Embrace Excellence: Philippians 3:7-9 (Living at a level of excellence that reflects Christ)
The word for DUCC this year is RELEASE, and we are moving from simply having Potential, to Living out our Potential. Are you ready to live on the NEXT LEVEL?
