Take the City
As we kicked off our new series at DUCC, there is a level of excitement buzzing within me to see what the Lord has planned for us. Our new series entitled “Take the City” is going to help us move to a more evangelistic and discipleship culture. The hope is to motivate people to share the gospel, and grow disciples. We looked at John 4 yesterday, and we witnessed a distressed and broken woman (the Samaritan woman), bring an entire city to Jesus. In Acts 1:8 Jesus gives the promise of the Holy Spirit to empower us to be His witnesses. What a glorious mission! I want to encourage you today, that you have an opportunity to change a life, a workplace, school, and city by simply sharing the good news that Jesus has come to give us freedom from the grips of sin, fear, anxiety, heartache, addiction, and much more. To share the good news that Jesus has come to give us life and life more abundantly flowing with joy unspeakable and peace that surpasses all understanding. If that woman in John 4 can bring an entire city to Jesus, I am sure that we can bring some people to Jesus! It’s time to take the city!
Psalm 37:3-4 says “Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.”
As I shared last week, if I could sum this season of my life up in one word it would be: Endurance. The church is going well, and there is a “healthy” demand for my time and attention. I am enjoying the journey. My family is blessed, and it has been a joy to walk this life with Cherelle, and embrace Chloe as a blessed addition. Me and my family are in the midst of moving to a new home, and it is a bitter sweet moment because we thought we had found the house for us. To spare you the details, we have found a new place that is quite suitable for our living and ministry needs. So, as we fervently pack up our house we are reminded of God’s faithfulness. The Johnson Family banner this year is found in the above scripture Psalm 37. Our banner this year is: “Feeding on the Lord’s faithfulness”. We are trusting that if we abide in Him, that He will indeed provide our every need. We do ask that you pray for us that we will continue to trust the Lord, and are covered by the Lord and His grace!
For your viewing pleasure this past weekend we celebrated Cherelle’s 28th birthday with a “90’s party”. We had an awesome time. Please check out the pictures. Also in the other picture you will Chloe & I after church. I think we partied too hard for Jesus Saturday Night and Sunday morning! Blessing to you this week, and remember that God is faithful!
