Christ has Risen!
Wow what a wonderful weekend. It was full of events, and some traveling, but all in all it was great. Hope you find these Monday Moments encouraging!
This past Friday we had our Baptism service, and we had 7 people get baptized. Baptism is the Christian public declaration of an inward commitment. Each of the people baptized have a special place in my heart, and have known some of them longer than others. One of my teammates from my Bridgewater football days was baptized and it does my heart joy to see the Lord moving in he and his family’s life! I count it an honor to stand with people in these monumental moments of faith. I am excited to see the newness of life that will flow through each of them.
Resurrection Sunday Service:
It is a tradition that Pastor AJ & I tagteam preach on Resurrection Sunday, but we couldn’t do it this year because he is a new FATHER! However he, his wife, and their beautiful daughter were able to attend church for the first time since the birth!
We had an awesome service this Sunday as we celebrated the Death, Burial, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ! The Word yesterday was “Release” from 1Cor. 15:3-10. When we look at Easter there is a release of 3 things: 1) Penalty, 2) Promise, & 3)Power. We are free from sin, free to receive what Christ has for us, and free for the power of Christ to flow through us.
I believe this was one of our most powerful services to date as we had a special altar call that allowed people to respond 4 different ways to the Gospel! 1) Receive it- ppl confessed Christ as their Savior, 2) Nail it– ppl nailed things to the cross that they wanted to be free from, 3) Remember it- we had communion, and 4) Honor it– we gave people an opportunity to give as a way of saying thanks to the Lord.
We had our 3rd DuLympics, and cookout. This was our special post service Easter celebration. We had awesome time cooking out, hanging out, and competing in Basketball, Kickball, and Flag Football! I am happy to report that DUCC (Community ppl) beat DUU (College students) in Kickball & Football. I think we won by a large margin too. I am feeling the pain now though, lol. All jokes aside it was an awesome time of fellowship.
As I look back over this weekend the only downside was I didn’t get the chance to hang out with my physical family. But I must say I am living a blessed life to have the spiritual family that I have. I am convinced that Divine Unity Community Church is not just about having church, but it is a lifestyle.
I sincerely hope something as special as the Gospel of Jesus Christ never grows old or boring. To think that God demonstrated His love for us, that while we were yet sinner Christ died for us. What a love! For more pics visit our facebook page.
