Happy Monday family & friends…
I apologize about not writing last week, Memorial Day through me off. But here are your Monday Moments for this week!
Not sure if you are NBA Basketball fan or not, but I love this time of year. The playoffs this year have been some of the most exciting in quite a few years. We have now come to the NBA Finals and it is a rematch of last year’s finals with the Miami Heat & San Antonio Spurs. I am hoping to see the Heat three-peat, but San Antonio looks good! Who do you think is going to win?
This past Saturday the men’s ministry had a chance to go paintballing. It was about 20 of us that went, and we had a ton of fun. There is something unique about shooting at people you love and care about that is hard to capture in words J. It was great fellowship time, and I love seeing men grow in brotherhood together. I had a pretty bad day out though… got shot in the face twice, and shot in the butt & back (Same person), and ran out of ammo twice in the middle of a game! I will come back for redemption though!
I heard some of the ladies want to go next time… I am not sure if Cherelle will go though, I can’t fathom the thought of someone shooting my wife and I be ok with it… lol! Seriously though, DUCC may have to consider a co-ed paintball trip. I can hear the women challenging the men already!

New Series- LIFE
This Sunday we started a new series based off of Matthew 4:4 entitled LIFE. The goal of this series is to Discover, Believe, and Remember the Word that God has spoken over our lives. Satan tempts Jesus to turn a stone in to bread, and Jesus quoting Deuteronomy 8:3 says, “Man does not live upon bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.” So how do we discover the specific word that the Lord has spoken over our lives? 2 Things: 1) Deliverance from Bondage, and 2) Dependency on God. Once we are delivered from bondage, we are now put in position to receive the promises of the Lord. It was once the children of Israel were delivered from Egypt that they were in position to obtain the Promised Land. However it is in the wilderness where they were tested that God may reveal what was really in their hearts. It is in the wilderness moments that we learn to depend on God. It is in the wilderness moments that we recognize who God is and how much we need Him.
As we go throughout this series we will use different people’s “life scriptures” as our sermon topics, and hear testimonies from different people in the congregation about how they discovered, believe, and remember the specific scripture that they stand on. I have learned that much too often we focus on the manifestation of God’s Word (the bread), rather than focusing on God! Isaiah 40:8 says that the flower fades, and the grass withers, but the Word of God lasts forever. It is my hope as we go through this series that we have that faith and hope in the Word of God.
If you are not a member of DUCC, I would still love to hear about your Life Scripture. Feel free to share what scripture you find is central to your life.
