International Couples Getaway
This past week Cherelle and I had the opportunity to vacation in Orlando and attend an International Couples Getaway sponsored by our church’s network, Every Nation. This time was set aside to Refresh, Encourage, & Connect with other pastors and leaders from around the world, and that is exactly what happened. Our guest speaker Larry Stockstill delivered some fresh and challenging wisdom for our journey in marriage and ministry that centered around living lives of Integrity, Purity, and Discipline.
In addition to the sessions we had a wonderful time of fellowship with other couples, and an opportunity to REST! Very grateful for our Spiritual Family and the opportunity to get away and be recharged. Oh yeah, we had a “50’s” party and it was FUN! Check out the picture of me as a gangster and Cherelle as my “doll”! Cherelle and I visited the “Holy Land Experience” while in Orlando as well. Special thanks to the many believers that have afforded us the opportunity to have a Christian attraction that educates people on Christ, and invites them to know Him as Savior. If you don’t know what the Holy Land Experience is take a look at the website: http://www.holylandexperience.com/
Reuniting with Chloe:
Chloe did not travel with us this past week, and we missed her greatly. However she had a great time with both sets of grandparents, and she really bonded with them. Having a child is another level of honoring your parents. When arrived back in Va and reunited with Chloe it was a reunion of the ages as she ran into our arms and yelled “Da-da”. I probably kissed her about 100x’s and it reminded me how blessed Cherelle and I are! WE LOVE CHLOE!
What many people may not have known is that since the church has started I have been bi-vocational (working 2 jobs=60-80hrs of work a week). As of this month, I am officially in full-time ministry as Pastor of DUCC. I am humbled and grateful for this opportunity. It has literally been a dream of mine for 9 years to dedicate my time fully to my family and the church. DUCC has been experiencing extreme amounts of grace since its inception, and the Lord is continually blessing us to see the power of the gospel change our lives and many many others. It is my hope that as the Lord has given this opportunity for me to be full-time at the church that my family will grow in reverence to God, and the church will be a blessing and a conduit of healing to more people than we could have imagined. #ducclife
I want to give a big thank you to Team Mcdonald & Team Anderson b/c they held down the fort at DUCC while Pastor AJ & I were out of town this past weekend. The Mcdonalds led our DuDinner & Midnight Prayer on Friday, and Marcus preached the word on Sunday morning! These two men, Roy & Marcus, are a blessing to the body of Christ and I am grateful to have them serving in our church.
On Sunday, Pastor Marcus preached from 2 Cor. 12, and delivered a powerful and gut checking word about the power of God being seen in our weaknesses, and not our boasting. This message challenged us to chase after God for edification and not simply and experience. One of our college students shared her testimony about how God has used this scripture to speak to her and through her.
Family and Friends, and I am grateful for all of what the Lord is doing and I am truly a testimony that God’s grace is sufficient and His strength is made perfect in our weaknesses. I pray that as you embrace this week that you will believe the Lord
