I am so grateful for the opportunities the Lord has afforded me as a son, man, husband, father, and pastor. As I think back to this past week and weekend I am extremely grateful for God’s grace and favor over my life. I am still receiving gifts and well wishes from my birthday last week, and my family I had our first road trip in our new vehicle #flexnation! Hope you enjoy these Monday Moments.
One of my best friends, Timotheus Pope, runs a Christian sports camp in western Pennsylvania called Summer’s Best Two Weeks aka SB2DUB. His camp specializes in meeting the needs of inner city youth with the gospel of Jesus Christ. This was my 5th year ministering at the camp, and I am always humbled by the opportunity and seeing the mighty work that the Lord is doing through T Pope and the many camp counselors. Here is a really cool video snippet of my time up there. Hope you enjoy. (Click here for video).
Also on Sunday we had our first DUCC Draft, where we are launching 6 street teams to evangelize and invite people to the Lord and DUCC. We had team captains recruit people to be on their street team to canvas Harrisonburg and the surrounding areas with the Gospel for the next month. We wholeheartedly believe in the great commission and we want to make as many disciples of Christ we can. On August 18th we will be starting a church wide 21day fast to seek the Lord’s wisdom and power for our church and for the unbelievers and disconnected people that need the Lord and a church to call home.
Can these Bones live?
As we prepare to relaunch DUCC with two services and a few other small things, we are doing a series entitled “Going to the Valley”. The emphasis of this series is to 1) Revisit our Vision, 2) Share our guiding principles, and 3) Prepare for a new spiritual height and impact in Christ.
Our base scripture is Ezekiel 37:1-14 where Ezekiel is faced with a valley of dry bones, and the Lord asks him, “Son of man, can these bones live?” Ezekiel’s response was simply: “Lord only You know.” The next thing that the Lord instructs Ezekiel to do is prophesy (declare the word of the Lord). As Ezekiel prophesied the bones began to come together, and they stood as a mighty army! The Lord breathes life into these that once were slain, but are now standing as a representation that what the Lord speaks, He makes happen. I hope that you are encouraged that when the Lord’s word is released SOMETHING has to change!
It is from this text that our vision was birthed: “To see revived lives active to glorify God.” When we started our church there were many dry bones in this valley (Harrisonburg), some disconnected from a body of believers, some stuck/struggling in sin, and some who had never confessed Christ as their Lord and Savior. 2.5 years later we stand as a testament to God’s word being spoken and performed in our church and this city. However our duty is not done yet. The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. The Lord has called DUCC to continue to prophesy until every dry and dead place has the life that Christ has planned. We prophesy that dry marriages, families, purposes, dreams, hopes, and spiritual gifts are released & restored in people’s lives. We ask that you join in this mission with us wherever you are. Praying that more and more people will be revived lives active to glorify God. I pray that you will experience the joy and power of the Lord’s word in your life this week!
