Happy Monday family and friends. The month of August is almost over, and it seems like time is flying by. As we near the end of August we have some very exciting things happening and about to happen!
Special congrats to Connie & Alex Jones as they have been joined into Holy Matrimony! They had a beautiful wedding, and my hope is that their future will be even more beautiful. As many of us set at the reception, I began to reflect on the many weddings many of the old “DuRaG” crew had celebrated together. Since 2011 we have been on a role. Its is extremely encouraging for me to see 1) That people are still faithfully serving Christ from our campus ministry, 2) People are honoring God through marriage, and 3) People are striving to walk in their God given purpose. It is my wife’s and I desire to continue to promote Christ-centered marriages between one man and one woman.
DUCC had an opportunity to serve our local Salvation Army this past Saturday through a variety of ways. We landscaped, cleaned inside and out, fellowshipped, and had bible study. We do recognize that it is our calling to not only impact those that come within our 4 walls of church, but also those that are within our reach in the community. Special thanks to the many people that came out to serve on Saturday morning. We must always remember that “Lives impacted by the gospel, make an impact for the gospel.”
As we continue to pursue excellence as a church through fasting, evangelizing, and inviting people to be apart of what The Lord is doing at DUCC. I want to encourage those that are fasting with us to not grow weary in doing well, but to keep pressing and keeping the standard pointing towards Christ. Pastor AJ delivered a powerful word this past Sunday as well on “Characteristics of a Spirit of Excellence” from Daniel 3. His 3 points encouraged us to deepen our commitment to Christ and a lifestyle that glorifies Him. Those that walk in a Spirit of Excellence Don’t Bow, Don’t Break, and Don’t Burn! It is not about what we are allowed to do, but more so what God is asking of us. The world considers many things to be right or acceptable that are not acceptable nor right for the children of God. Distinguish yourself!
In addition to that, we are welcoming students back from the universities around us which means DUCC hits an immediate growth spurt. For those that don’t know about 35-40% of our congregation is made up of college students. So this past week we were packed already even though all of the students are not back. We are looking forward to welcoming all the students back this upcoming Sunday with our Back to School Sunday. Also September 7th we are going to 2 services at 9am & 11am! We are looking forward to the harvest that The Lord is calling us to.
So I ask that you join us in this season of excellence believing that cities, campuses, jobs, schools, and homes will bow down believing in the true and living God that came in the form of man in Jesus Christ, died for our sins, and was raised from the grave to give us eternal life.
Walking in Excellence,
