Cherelle and I are renaming Harrisonburg to “Dream City” because we are experiencing God’s favor, and the manifestation of His will for our lives! This weekend was amazing! It was busy, but it as great. I hope you enjoy these Monday Moments.
I had 3 great opportunities to preach yesterday. One of them was to the JMU Football team. I am grateful for any opportunity to share the gospel, but especially to a group of young men that have such an influence on the campus. I want to give a special shout out to Jason Stuhmiller, & the JMU coaching staff for caring enough about these men to invest in them spiritually during the season. In combination with DUU (our campus ministry) and opportunities such as these, I am believe that their is 1) A Harvest waiting on the campuses, and 2) a revival bound to happen. Continue to pray for the college students that hearts will be softened and ears opened to the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
The other 2 opportunities that I had to preach came at DUCC as yesterday was the first Sunday of us having 2 services. This move to two services is a combination of responding to the many people The Lord is sending our way, and as a step of faith believing that there are even more people that are looking for a church that they can call home! We experienced a record high in attendance pushing past the 200 barrier. While we are not all about numbers we do believe that the numbers are a reflection to the fruit that The Lord is bearing in and through our church. Also for us it is not about how many come, but it is our heart to disciple and develop believers to make an even greater impact on others. Lives impacted by the gospel make an impact for the gospel!
We also kicked off a new sermon series entitled Roadside Assistance. The goal of this series is to help us learn what it means to SEE & BE the hands of Jesus along this journey called life, Yesterday we covered the story of the Good Samaritan. In this parable found in Luke 10, we explored 3 different ppl: 1) The Stranded, 2) The Selfish, and 3) The Servant. This is one of those scriptures where you can surely identify with someone, and I will encourage you to read it this week, and see who you most identify with. To help you here is the link for the notes from my sermon: http://bible.us/e/1bXP.
As you read this, my prayer in this season of ministry is found Ephesians 3:14-21, to be strengthened by God, filled with the love of Christ, and believing that He will do exceedingly and abundantly more than I can ask or think according to the power that He has invested in me. I pray that not only for myself, but also for those of you that are reading this. Have a blessed week and I look forward to debriefing next this week and upcoming weekend with you next Monday!
