Happy Monday family and friends, I hope each of you are doing well, and if you are in Virginia, I hope you are embracing this cold weather with a smile on your face. Fall is definitely here, and I love this time of year as the leaves change colors, and I am not sweating everytime I go outside #bigguyissues. Had a great week and weekend, so I look forward to sharing with you.
Outpouring: Prayer Service
THis past Friday we had our monthly prayer service, and it was epic. Pastor AJ & I have been sensing a very special season at DUCC where we are experiencing an outpouring of God’s presence, and this past Friday was no different. As we head into 2015 we are moving towards a time of empowerment & activation, and right now God is instructing us to prepare the hearts and minds of those at our church to go to a deeper level in Him. As we worshipped, prayed, interceded for our city and families there was a healing to our faith to believe that we will indeed see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! I hope that you believe that too. We truly believe that the effective fervent prayers of the righteous avail much.
Pastor AJ & I had our annual pastoral vision retreat where we spend intentional time praying for one another and for the church. This is an opportunity for us to talk to God about man before we talk to men about God. Our meeting time was very productive and I am looking forward to sharing vision for & with DUCC for 2015 and the years to come. Overall I want to simply say that God has granted us an awesome opportunity to accompany people along their journey with the Lord and we continue to believe that we will see dry bones revived and active to glorify God #Ezekiel37. I do ask that you join us as we pursue what the Lord has laid before us as men, husbands, fathers, and pastors.
New Members Class:
We also started a new cohort of new members that are joining DUCC. We are pretty particular about our membership classes, and they are actually discipleship sessions. Those that want to be members of DUCC believe that they are called, connected, and committed to the work that the mission & vision of DUCC. I in particular am always excited to see new people joining the church and our diversity of age, ethnicities, and backgrounds continues to grow as well. If you are looking for a church home or know someone that is (and they are in this area) the doors of the church are open!
Triumphant Entry: :John Manzano
I didn’t preach this past Sunday at DUCC, but we had a special guest, John Manzano. John Manzano is one of the directors of a network of churches that we are affiliated with by the name of Grace Network. This man is truly apostolic, and passionate about the gospel of Jesus Christ! He preached on Luke 19:28-41 where Jesus entered Jerusalem. I must say that I have never heard anyone bring so much light & revelation through this scripture. This message was powerful, revelatory, and educational. Now that’s a hardy meal for a Sunday morning. Special thanks to John & Allison Manzano for sharing with us this Sunday morning.
Family as I close this week’s Monday moments, I want to give a special shout out to some of the finest people in the world: Troy & Chaka Burnett as they celebrate their 4 year anniversary this week. They are Chloe’s godparents and I believe Chloe took ownership over their picture (please see pic attached). This couple model God’s grace and heart towards one another and those that are connected to them. Cherelle & I love them and truly consider them family!
Enjoy your week fam, and I look forward to continuing in Luke 19 this Sunday at DUCC!
