Happy Monday family! It is hard to believe that it is November already! Hope each of you are doing well and here are your Monday Moments!
Shout out to the JMU Dukes Football team for a great and intense victory this past Saturday, I am sure that it helped many alumni celebrate their homecoming weekend. Cherelle, Chloe, myself and some others tried to attend the game but it was too cold and rainy for us. We ended up watching the game at O’Neil’s with many other excited and fed fans! Even though I didn’t go to JMU many of the people that came through our college ministry come back to visit and worship with us on Sunday mornings.
During the JMU Homecoming weekend we have an annual Midnight Madness basketball tournament. Although I couldn’t play due to a prior knee injury I still got a team into the tournament. Now to give you some history my team has won the past two years, and it was my expectation that we would pull off a 3-peat. Pastor Marcus got his team together with the hopes to dethrone us, but my team pulled off a very convincing victory and I am proud to say that we are now the 3 time Midnight Madness champions! Special shout out to all those that participated in the tournament and we are looking forward to doing it again sooner than later.
EN Cluster Meeting
This past week, I also attended our North Eastern Pastors’ Cluster meeting for Every Nation. This is a time for us to connect with pastors from Canada to North Carolina that are within our network. We encourage one another, share testimony, and talk trash to each other! I know you may not have been expecting that last one, but we had our annual Bowling Tournament. Last year I had one of the lowest scores and it was outright embarrassing! This year was a different story though. I bowled one of my best games in the first round, but the second round, my team won the tournament! As I look back over this weekend it just seemed like it was my weekend to WIN! In all seriousness though it was a very refreshing and encouraging time as Pastor Brett shared a powerful word to a group full of pastors that encourages us to 1) Walk in Integrity, and 2) Reproduce other leaders in our churches. I am excited to see our network continue to impact the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ!
The Prepared Heart
As we have been walking through the last few chapters of Luke it has been one of the most encouraging and revelatory preaching seasons for me. This week we were at the end of Luke 23, and talked about Joseph from Arimethea who buried Jesus in his own tomb. We learned this week when we take the Proper Risks, Offer our Resources, and set a Pattern of Reverence revelation will follow. This Joseph is yet another example of God using ordinary people to make extraordinary examples. I believe this was one of those messages that will turn into life guiding principles for many years to come. It is my hearts desire that DUCC is known for a pattern of reverence, and other people will know how to honor God with their time, talents, and treasures as we honor God with ours. I believe the Lord is calling me to take some leaps of faith that will reveal more of His glory in my life, family, and church. Are you willing to take a Risk to Reverence Jesus? Will you honor Jesus with your Resources? Are you ready to set a pattern of Reverence for other people to follow?
In the Master’s will,
