Hope each of you had a great Thanksgiving Holiday connecting with family and friends. Cherelle, Chloe, and I have had a wonderful time in the 757 (Hampton Roads Area) with our family. With all the food I have eaten over the past few days, I feel as if I need to detox my body! I truly believe my mom is addicted to cooking good food, and I am enable her with my appetite. We are still at my parents house, hitting the road today to head back to “Dream City” aka Harrisonburg. I hope you enjoy this week’s Monday Moments.
Annual Push-Up Challenge:
A few years ago a group of us started a push-up challenge on Thanksgiving where we would collectively try to reach a large amount of push-ups post Thanksgiving dinner. This may have been a guilt offering for overeating, however it has definitely connected many of the men across cities and states on Thanksgiving. This year’s goal was 10,000 pushups, and I personally pledge to do 1000 push-ups on Thursday… MISTAKE. My arms are still sore even now! We did meet our goal, and actually we got 11,000 done with the help of about 30guys. The ladies have also started a challenge, and they pledged to do 10,000 crunches, they too met their goal. Not only did they meet their goal, they also finished with about a hour to spare while the guys made a dramatic dash and finished exactly at 12Midnight!
The Bridge Church
I had the awesome opportunity to preach at The Bridge Church in Hampton this past Sunday, where my good friends Edwin & Arial Jones pastor. The Johnson & Jones connection has blessed us in so many ways.
They just started the this past September and I am excited to see where the Lord is taking them, and I am believing that they will have a great impact on the city of Hampton as they preach and live the gospel. I continually pray that the Lord will reward their faith and excellence in ministry. Thank you Bridge Church for your hospitality and partnership in the Gospel. Check out their website: http://www.thebridgechurchva.com.
I want to give a special shout out to Pastor AJ for a wonderful sermon at DUCC yesterday. Having AJ at DUCC makes travel easy for me because I know he can hold it down with the word. I have heard multiple reports that he did an excellent job ministering the gospel on the topic: “Did I forget to say thank you?” If you weren’t there make sure you check our website for the sermon!
Also we had the opportunity to catch up with some really good friends. Last night Cherelle and I had a great opportunity to hang out with some of our mentors and friends Dwight & Janelle Riddick. This couple has had and continues to have a profound impact on our lives and ministry. I am always encouraged by their drive for ministry & marriage. Definitely a power couple in the kingdom. I want to say thank you on behalf of Cherelle and I for your wisdom and encouragement along this journey.
It is already December which means this year is about over. I want to encourage you to start preparing for the upcoming year now so when January hits you can hit the ground running. Spend more time in prayer and in God’s word. As for me and my house we are expecting God to continue to do amazing things in us and through us, and I believe the same is possible for you and yours too. Let’s finish strong!
In the Master’s will,
