Wow, this was a memorable weekend for us here at DUCC and in Harrisonburg. Cherelle and I hosted some of the college students from our campus ministry on Thursday. We cooked breakfast and they ate up everything. We had about 29 students here, and we also had a great opportunity to fellowship and encourage the students. One foot on the campus and one foot in the community!
We also had our last Midnight Prayer service of the year, and we are launching a new monthly prayer service in 2015 called “The Engine” where we will meet to worship, pray, and experience an outpouring of the presence of God in our lives and our church. Shout to Pastor AJ as he leads this ministry.
Pastor Henry Eggleston
I had the opportunity to be a part of a surprise pastor’s appreciation service at New Life Ministries for my good friend Henry Eggleston. New Life is where I dedicated my life to the Lord and it is always good to go back home! Ps. Henry and his wife Sara Eggleston are some of Cherelle’s and I closest friends in Harrisonburg. Congrats Henry, I love you brother!
DUCC Christmas Play & Party
We had our annual Christmas party at DUCC, but this year there was a special treat added by our children’s ministry. They did their very first play and it was awesome. We had many people both adults and children participate in the program singing, dancing, drawing, and acting. This was one of the most life giving events we have had all year. We saw many families joined together full of joy and celebrating the birth of our Savior! Special thanks to Giane our Children Ministry leader, and our Shepherding pastors for overseeing this event.
Divine Unity Community
This past Sunday was POWERFUL! We welcomed 12 new members to our church We truly experienced a new level in Christ and our ministry. I preached from Acts 2:40-47 and the title of the message was actually the name of our church Divine Unity Community Church. As we look at that 1st Century church we see a ministry philosophy that yields great fruit: Devoted Partnership, Divine Power, and Daily Progress. Divine Unity is not simply the name of our church but it is our mission! We are intentionally striving to be a Multi-Ethnic, Multi-Cultural, and Multi-Generational church. I believe Christ-centered diversity is a biblical expression of the church. With the many things going on in our society highlighting the racial & socioeconomic divides that exists, the church needs to be salt and light showing the world that we can love and cherish one another. Instead of allowing our differences to separate us should be what we celebrate and use to be a more powerful ministry to the earth.
Also on this past Sunday we made a very special announcement that DUCC is EXPANDING. We have just signed the lease on our 3rd location in our shopping center. What is humbling to me is that in 2007 I sat down and drew out a shopping center believing that the Lord was going to bless us with a shopping center to do ministry in, and as I look up we are occupying our 3rd location in our 3rd year. God is faithful, and His favor continues to shower us.
This 3rd location will be our new lobby and children’s wing with 5 class rooms, fellowship space, and some additional restrooms. We are kicking off a $20,000 expansion campaign to do all the necessary building renovations and furnishings. As we announced this expansion project, blueprints and all, someone gave a check of $5,000.00 yesterday. WOW! We are grateful for the people that believe in the vision of the Lord for DUCC. We ask that you pray about giving a gift to DUCC for this project of any amount. It is our hope to raise the money by February 2015, and have the building completed by the end of February. Visit our website http://www.ducchurch.org/building-campaign to make a donation.
Let’s close out this year strong and pursuing the LORD!
In the Master’s will,
